I just purchased my first new car I got it yesterday. I drove around for about 1/2 an hour and then went home to go to bed for work the next day....I wake up and go out to start my car and it wouldn't start...I figured maybe I forgot to turn off my interior light and killed the battery but the lights were off and I didn't leave the headlights on they go off by themselves...and when I turn the key the head lights come on and the car still has power but when I try to start it makes a single little clicking noise what can it be?...Thank god it's under Warranty I haven't heard back from the dealer yet about the status but I'm anxious in knowing what some of you guys think the problem is....

Re: I just purchased a 2004 Pontiac Grand AM and.....
To me it's the battery.
I would invest in a $60 battery charger/starter 12vdc output/115vac input and invest in a $50 12vdc air pump for your tires. Try to put the transmission in Neutral and try starting that way. |

I doubt it's the battery, if it was you would not have head lights. The newer cars have a system that is not supposed to let the battery go dead if lights are left on. the system will shut off the lights automatically if they are left on too long. Try starting the car in neutral as Slade901 says, you may have a bad or miss-adjusted Neutral Saftey Switch.
