98 durango 5.2 won't start after battery reconnected

The starter motor went out in my 98 d 5.2. I replaced starter, recharged and reconnected battery. New starter engages flywheel and cranks motor very strong, but no start. Advice from misc.friends points to car's computer needing to be reset after battery disconnect. Any advice on how to do this? I am hoping to find a home remedy as I can't drive!!!
