Clutch Click

Ok first off I dont have much knowledge about clutches but anyway Im kind of scared right now. After driving pretty agressively for about 5 mins I cooled down and heared , and felt my clutch pedal click. I pressed it down a few more times and it clicked every time I pushed my clutch to the floor. As of now it dosent do it every time i shift but almost. My car has 90k miles with the stock clutch

Re: Clutch Click

YEAR MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR IN SIG! also a better description of how you were driving when before it started. were you shifting without the clutch? dumping the clutch? shifting at redline? or were you just going fast?

Re: Clutch Click

Should all be under the "User CP" link above (User Control Panel). Is the click coming from inside the car or does it sound muffled, like it could be in the engine bay.

Re: Clutch Click

Mine does the same. My mechanic says one of the springs in the clutch broke. I think he just wants my car!! I've been driving with that popping for awhile now. It sounds like its at the pedal, but if you open the hood and have someone hit the clutch, it'll sound louder in the engine comparentment. Mines been doing this for a long time now (6months), and Ive had no problems at all. You get used to it. As long as you can shift, it doesnt pop out of gear, and doesnt grind, you should be ok.

Re: Clutch Click

Is it like a double click or just one solid click? Say, is it one click when you push the pedal in, and then another click as you let it out? If so, I believe that's just the cruise control switch that lets it know when the clutch is depressed while cruise is activated. I've been under the dashboard when the pedal was depressed and the clicking sound comes from that exact switch. Of course, your clicking could be something completely different. I'm just throwing stuff out there

Don't want to steal the thread or change the topic but I didn't want to start a new one and make everyone mad.
My car is a 99 RS with over 110k on it. I bought the car used last year with 90,xxx something. I never asked the previous owner when the clutch was changed. I'm not an expert with clutch/tranny or cars for that matter but I know that this clutch on the car is at the end of it's life but I'm not 100% sure it's the clutch.

***Recently driving around, I noticed when engaging the clutch.. and adding gas... the car studders.. or how do you say... bogs and vibrates a little. After the clutch is fully engaged.. sometimes when I add gas the car bogs again. I don't get good acceleration.. it also takes the car quite awhile to get going from a stop. So does this sound like that the cluch definitely needs to be changed? I want to make sure that this is the problem before I spend any money to change it. Also if it is the clutch, what else should I tell the mechanic to change while he's at it? Also how much am I looking at to pay, for a local mechanic to do this job[so I don't get ripped off]? I wish I could buy a clutch kit and do it my self but I don't have the experience or the tools, or someone else to help me for that matter. TIA for any advice/suggestion.
One more thing, the clutch pedal feels a lot 'looser' than before.

Re: Clutch Click

My clutch makes the same clicking sound when i depress the clutch. I thought it was normal as well, and i havent had any problems with it.

Re: Clutch Click

mine did that for a long time...my mechanic said it was the master cylinder rod that comes through the firewall and to the pedal. he said it's nothing to worry about. he said an adjustment might help, but now my tranny/clutch is out of my car which doesn't help anything! lol

Re: Clutch Click

It is probably one of the springs on the clutch pedal. Nothing to worry about, it's a common problem. There is a fix for it but I can't remember where I found it. The problem is under the dash, not with the clutch itself.
