FWD launches
ok so i searched through this forum and pretty much just found out info about how to launch GSX's good, well, i'm not so lucky to have one of those just yet, so i wanna know some tips on launching my RS. i've tried like once, earlier today, lol. revved it to 3k rpm's let go of the clutch completely and 3/4s floored it because the front wheels spun a bit then caught grip around 5k-ish rpms. so any tips would be greatly appreciated. my friend told me what he does is rev to 3500, but with the e-brake on and barely letting the clutch grab, then slam off the e-brake and floor it, anyone else do this? i'mma gonna go test out some more shit tonight, but like i said, and help is good help.

Re: FWD launches
hmmm that might hurt the car a little... e brake + barely clutching and 3500 RPMS in gear... = lots of clutch wear...

Re: FWD launches
in my cirrus i just rev it up to 3500 RPMs and dump it... it gives me a little burnout but not much... if u want a nice launch... u need to keep all ur wheels connected... 2000-3000 RPMs should chirp ur tires but not make them loose to much traction make sure ur totaly clutching to not fuck up anything and dump it and push the pedal in about half way then to the floor shift at about 5000 RPMs (what i do) and it will give u a nice kick as it lunges forwards then floor it (might chirp ur tires if u got the torque) and watch the RPMs my car seems to loose alot of torque at the high RPMS 5000+ and i got a V-6 with 180 HP and that gives me a great lauch...

Re: FWD launches
XeVeNskyLiNE- Does your car actually bounce like crazy when peeling off? I wonder why my car does it because everytime i rev to about 3500 and let off clutch, my car bounces and everything inside shake like fuck but yet no burn outs.

its weird actually, yea shit bounces all around on those low revs and the wheels arent gripping, but when i burnt out its smooth in the upper rpms.

that bouncing is called wheel hop. its because of your engine mounts + i heard suspension helps a little too.

Re: FWD launches
Get motor mounts inserts or fill the mounts with 3m ureathane. It will help a lot for the wheel hop.
I launch my gs at 4000 and SLIP the clutch

yea i know its wheel hop, but it only happens in my lower rpm's. i'm broke without a job right now so i don't exactly have the money for suspension and such now, plus i don't really wanna waste too much money on a RS. so basically, i'm just wondering how all yo RS/GS/GST guys launch.

Re: FWD launches
what i do is when i'm about to race someone, i'm at the light/start line, clutch in, tranny in first, start revving to about 3200 or so...sometimes 3000, when it's time to go, dump the clutch and push throttle a bit, not floor it...most of the time i'll get a decent launch and not spin tire, just a chirp and i'm off. but i have all upgraded motor mounts too, which help A LOT with tire hop. they were only like $70 at Summit Racing and they're well worth it. if you want, to prevent any tire hop, when you're at the line revving, you could slip the clutch but it's not good on the clutch (well neither is dumping it...) either way you look at it, you're putting stress on your clutch, tranny, motor and tires when you're racing someone.
