Re: 95 Honda Civic Mods Part2
If you've got $5,000 for performance, then I'd say either get a GS-R motor with only a coupe bolt-ons (what you can afford) or a B16a with intake, header, exhaust and possibly some cams and an Apexi VAFC. The GSR will be more expensive than the b16a but basically has more hp. The reason I say basically is because the US version has 170hp, the same as the JDM b16a; but it has more torque. Also you may want to consider an LS motor. Even though it has less hp (142hp) it has a little more torque than even the GS-R motor does. So here are our choices...
B18c(1) [GS-R]: 180hp JDM, 170hp US B16a(3): 160hp US [b16a3 Del Sol], 170hp JDM b18a/b [LS]: 142hp US, 145hp JDM Or if you're feeling frisky, get an Si/EX motor (d16z6) and do a homemade turbo kit on it. For around $1,500-2,000 you could have a decent turbo kit and make anywhere from 170hp+. For intakes, a lot of people get the AEM Cold Air Intake, it's one of the best CAI's out there. For a header, a lot of people go with the DC Sports. As for exhaust, there are tons of companies that make cat-backs; it really depends on how much you're willing to spend and how loud you want it. Don't let some of the people on here bother you. Most people have been here a long time and just hear the same things over and over again, and come to their own conclusions on what they think is good for a car and what is not. I personally am one of them. Though I've begun reforming my ways, and realizing that it's more constructive to help people out than just make fun of them for something that's none of my business. Just have fun with your car, research it and do what you decide is best. |

Re: 95 Honda Civic Mods Part2
If your budget is $10,000 then you've got plenty of money to play with. CivicSpoon mentioned some great motor choices that will readily fit your car. I would suggest buying a motor that's not any newer than 1995 though - that was the last year Honda made OBD1 motors. Anything newer is OBD2 and you'll have additional wiring and emissions sensors to fool with if you're swapping motors. Since your car is OBD1 already, it'll save you some headaches.
If you're planning on boost, the VTEC motors have a higher compression so you won't be able to run as much boost on those as you would a non-VTEC motor (like the Integra LS motor - B18B). If built right, a D-series will hold close to 400hp before it reaches its operational limits so a boosted D-series motor is also a good choice and is cheaper to work with than a B-series. Your 5th gen Civic is pretty light, so a strong motor and decent suspension will make for a very quick car.

Re: 95 Honda Civic Mods Part2
I would go with the B18C motor. Overall I think it would be your best choice, or you could go with the Prelude H22 200 HP motor. It's also VTEC, and is another good choice for your Civic. Also, throw on Intake, Headers, and Exhaust. You'll be running nicely. 10K is quite the budget for a Civic.
As I pointed out before check on Ebay for most of your needs. You can find Suspension Packages, Wheels and Tires, and Sound System Packages. Also, body kits, fenders, headlights, taillights. You name it and you can find it there. In the search box Type in 92-95 Civic and you can search for numerous parts. Ex: Type 92-95 Civic Intake, and you will find a vast amount of intakes for your year of Civic. Good luck with your find. Also, what kind of wheels you looking for? White, Chrome, Gunmetal, Black? 15's 16's 17's? I have a set of Chrome 17's that I have been looking to get rid of. You can even check the Honda Classifieds here as well. Last time I checked there some guy was selling a butt load of stuff for a 92-95 Honda. If you would be interested, I have a Apexi VAFC that I may be willing to give up to you for about $165. It's a great addition to your car, but I've decided to upgrade my ECU. So let me know. Well, hope this will help your quest for your Civic. late... |

Re: 95 Honda Civic Mods Part2
Yup, I forgot to mention suspension as well. I was going to write it but I got lost in my train of thought
. A good suspension will a great idea for your car, just don't go with the cheap brands because they will only cause you problems.I think the H22a would be out of the question. It would pretty much eat up the $5,000 he has to spend on performance, just getting the motor in. He probably wouldn't even have $ left over to ad bolt-ons to it. But it is one hell of a good swap in general. I also forgot to mention engine sale sites (it was almost 2am when I wrote my response so give me a break )Try www.hmotorsonline.com, www.passwordjdm.com, and www.totaljdm.com . But be careful and read what each site says the swap comes with, some will be cheaper than others but will not include some essential parts needed for the swap. |

Re: 95 Honda Civic Mods Part2
if it was my car, i would add a ctr front cf lip, any kind of simple side skirts, and a buddy type rear lip, a cf oem hood. Then, i would get some skunk 2 coilovers with some koni adjustables, 16 inch rota circuit 10 rims(gloss black with polished lip). what else? ummmm, a mesh grille, Si style tails with the white part smoked, black housing headlights,
Thats it for exterior, as for the performance, i would go with the b18c1 with bolt on's. That is what i wanted until i realized that im only 15 and without a jb it is gonna be hard to get 3000+ dollars, so i have started to save for a jdm teggy b16 which is only 1700 for a full swap. That is gonna be way easier to get.

Re: 95 Honda Civic Mods Part2
Do you know what type of 4-door it is? DX, LX, EX?
DX would be the lightest with standard options, ex would be fully loaded and heavy for a civic.

Re: 95 Honda Civic Mods Part2
There are more ground effects kits than you can shake a stick at for your car. Look around on the internet or Google it and you'll find more hits and places that sell kits than you'll care to read. Go with a full kit or mix and match one. Just find one you like and have at it.
