Talking teh new guy

Hey waddup

my name is Matt, i live in Hampton VA

i used to drive a '93 Accord SE, upgraded to a 1998 Accord V6, picked up a 2001 Sentra, but that car SUCKS (seriously, don't ever think about buying one. Bad crank sensor caused it to die on me at 55mph. and thats a minor problem compared to what i went through)

anyways, i just picked up this 1991 Civic EX me and my neighbor were building for him, until he went out and bought a Scion. So heres my new daily driver

mods right now are scarce and consist of the D16 swap, Tenzo R Poke 10's in gunmetal wrapped in Ventus Hankooks, 18's rear, 17's front, jvc cd player, in dash DVD w/ 7.5" widescreen in glove compartment, sony 6 x 9's

coming very soon the car will recieve custom molded hood scoop above the breather filter, Extreme rear and sides molded, possible BW front not sure yet, shaved molding, shaved rear doors, shot down in a coat of PPG Cloud White and flaked, header. I will decide if i want a drop after the kit is put on.

i already have an exhaust muffler, hi-flow cat, and tubing is being bent for the car, as soon as i get around to welding the exhaust on i will be done with that.

BTW, me and my boy do all the work ourselves, he is the body man, and i do electronic installs and welding. heres some cars we have done in case you're curious:

civic hatch

my old accord

the POS sentra

thanks for looking!

Re: teh new guy

thanks man, yeah that civic turned out pretty nice but i hate that car now for 3 reasons (2 involve the owner)

1. We originally painted like he wanted, all black with two red stripes along the side. However, he saw someone with a similar one and flipped his mind after first coat was on. therefore that design. We actually got screwed cuz he got more than bargained for

2. In the silver look real close and youll see imperfections where we shaved the body molding. This is because the guy got cheap on us and didnt wanna cough up the money for some metal plate so i could weld it up. He didnt even wanna cough it up for some Tiger Hair, so we had to use body filler. we told him over and over again it would be visible once paint was on. but eh, to each his own i guess.

3. We told him to get it buffed and polished after paint to lessen the chances of orange peel. However, he (in his cheapness again) decided to do it himself. HOWEVER, he took an orbital and threw like a 600 grit sanddisc on it and went to town on the roof. clearcoat came off, and now he has rust sopts coming through where he went through the paint too.

hmm, i guess all three are due to the owner
its all good though, we're gonna fix it all for him, just gonna cost him $$$$ now that he realizes the error of his ways. HINT: if your body man is reputable and advises something, LISTEN!!!!

Re: Re: teh new guy

welcome

man, i hate it when people go cheap and that is the reason ti doesn't come out flawless.

we have a friend turned customer when he decided to step his hatch up. i wish everybody was like him. he understands that if you want it done right then you can't cut corners. he tells us what he wants, we counter offer our ideas, and he hands us cash then lets us go to work.

he's also the type who will stop by daily to check on it...but not to say is it done yet or to make sure it's done right. he's more intrested in the process and understanding what's going on.

one time we had to pull a good d15 from wrecked 5th gen, then pull a bad d15 from a good 5th gen. so 2 motors out, 1 to goes back in. we started just before 10:00...about 9:45. it was all done and the good 5th gen turn key by 4:30. what burns me is some chick was supposed to be buying the good 5th gen. because she found out we were doing the enignes that day she calls to say she was expecting to pick up the car BY 5:00. of course we had it done....but i think that is pretty damn demanding. to be honest, i was kinda hoping something was going to go wrong just so we could tell her to come back tomorrow

Re: teh new guy

yeah, some people just don't grasp the concept. its a freakin car, not like your pictures being developed in under an hour. But unfortunately, the ratio of people who know something about vehicles and how they work/operate and what it takes to get things right again is very small compared to all the ignorant a-holes out there. But yet, when their car f-ups, guess who's fault it must be? Not them for not changing their oil in 9k, must be because it took me an extra 3 hours to let the clearcoat dry, and they had to pick up the car the next day! (sorry, a little grudge i have right now with someone. absolute moron. oh, and my father-in-law)

Hey DirtyD777, i appreciate it. Yeah, that was my baby. I know sometimes that picture works and sometimes not, thats imagestation for you. I worked hard on her though. Now the wench who owns it is f-ing it all up. *sigh* oh well, life goes on....

Yeah I sold mine to a kid in my town. After no more than than 2 months of owning the car he threw a rod in it by trying to be fast and furious by shifting his auto tranny down to 2, lol. Now it sits right across the street from my house and I watch it rot.
