disabling alarm
I have a 97 4Runner, with the 3.4 liter V6. I just did some maintenance under the hood for which I had to disable the battery. Upon reconnecting the battery, the alarm went off. It goes off when I open and close any doors and it will not start (due to security). I do NOT have a remote to turn off the alarm. What can I do? Need to be able to get to work in the morning.
Thanks for any help Dave |

Re: disabling alarm
Sometimes you can roll the window down and reach in and turn key to on position and/or turn on parking lights before opening door....another way is to disconnect battery after rolling down window and turn key to on position, then reconnect battery and open door...goodluck

I had that same annoying problem with my alarm on my 97 4runner. I just took it out a couple of days ago. Just Take off the dash part under the steering wheel and find the brain to the alarm. Reconnect the ignition wiring so its not "y" to the alarm, or in my case I took the brain out and just cut the 3 wires of attached to the wiring and it had no problems starting, no more alarm!! Or if you want to keep your alarm but just want to get rid of all the sensors going off, just cut the wire under the hood that is the mini horn for the alarm.
Hope that helps....I HATE ALARMS!! |

Re: disabling alarm
When the alarm is going off, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the ON position (not start), then turn it to OFF then repeat back to ON then OFF. this should disable the alarm w/o the fob according to the vip manual
