Re: next mod

How about brakes? I am a fan of upgraded brakes. (I know you are looking for engine upgrades) Or maybe a high flow cat? That would finish your free flowing intake and exhaust.

Re: next mod

dropinblock, you have a question that everyone run's into when their looking to gain a little more power. to answer your question honistly lies in what you wish your end result to be. what are you comfortable spending, and how much do you wish to modify your car. are you a backyard mechanic, or would you rather have somone else do the job for you. would you like to stay naturally asperated (from your mod list, look like you may) or go the rout of forced induction.

if your planning on sticking with the N/A setup i think a good ideah would be to learn (not saying you dont know anything about it) a little bit more about Airflow, vac pressure, cylinder vortex & Timming about your specific engine. example. a typical 4 cyl engine intake and exhaust valves are open throughout 200 degreeas of their timming cycle to alow for better flow into/out of the cylender, alowing for more effecent higher RPM's(porting, and angling the valves also increase the amount of timming degree improving flow). anyone would benifit from learning why one alteration effects another, but to be fast without boost you'll want to know some specifics.

if you plan on going boosted, you'll also want to understand some of the basic's. but you'll really want to understand Airflow. Airflow, air-fuel tuning & timming are the most important to understand when running a force induction engine. if you want me to go into that further i will, but from what i've read i've made the decision to "read between the lines" and stick with N/A question.

i think the next upgrade might be a larger t/b, ported runners (if you want to save the hastle of porting your intake manifold and intake runners you could buy a sheat mettle intake, but their hella expensive!!) ported exhaust ports & ported manny. that should help increase vac pressure and flow around 5%-7% more air.

ps. a good think to reamber when shopping for a new intake manifold is to know that the longer your runners the better your midrange power through your powerband will be, and less the higher end power will be. vice/versa for sorter intake runners. so, as you peice together simply asking "whats next?" really depends on how much you want to impress the next guy, and mainly how much $ you want to throw down.

ps. if you want to be like 60% of the honda culture i'll stick with my prevous statment. stickers and HUGE spoiler!

Re: next mod

How expensive is it to port and polish and angle? I would think that it's pretty expensive to do.

You could even go with some NNNNNAAAAWWWSSSS!!! But I would have to agree with Greenblur. A camshaft and cam gear should do you fine. Also a larger Throttle Body and Intake Mani. Late...

dont get a high flow cat ive heard they ruin low end torque....u need torque more than horsepower so u dont want to lose it....id say ignition should be your next step...a msd cap and external coil...9.3 mm plug wires and some nology spark plugs should do the trick....i run bosch platinum 4's, 9.3 mm apc wires and a moroso sport cap and it does wonders for my d15....after the ignition system upgrade id say do fuel filter and injectors....maybe o2 sensors to make sure all your mixtures are correct.....

p.s. adjust idle and always remember to reset your ecu after every mod

no offense to your idea but the stock ignition in a honda is good enough for most setups. the only reason i belive to upgrade your ignition on that motor would be if you plan for some serious mods down the road. imo i basic d15 with some bolt ons doesnt need much of an ignition upgrade. its a waste of money. i run the stock igniton on my motor (see hp below) and i have no problems with it and i have seen other setups at 400+hp with no problems. and you o2 sensor idea isnt a bad one, but instead of using a narrow band o2 (like most stock sensors) i would go with a wideband to help with tuning.
if i were building the car i would spend the next mods on brakes, suspension. they will get you way futher in a race then a little red box.

yeah, the budget is pretty low, i'm 17 and still in high school, no time for a job b/c of baseball so i just do small things to my car when my dad and i can. definetly don't have the money for a turbo. would putting in a new cam decrease the reliability of my enigine? i gotta drive the thing everyday and my dad doesn't live with me to be fixing my shit whenever it breaks. i was just wondering what the next thing to do should be, im likin the cam idea but like i said i dont want reliability to go down too much. thanx for the help guys

Re: next mod

how about some pulley's and cam gears you will get a little hp with those and they are not terribly expensive.
