I have an old Toyota Tercel (1991). I parked it in cold weather for three days, then cannot start it today (very cold, 10F or lower).
I tried to boost it with a 2001 Intrepid. It was hard but finally my car started. I kept it running for 15 minutes, turn off, restart, it was fine. But when I turned off the engine again, I could not restart any more. I could hear some clicking noise like "ka....ka....". I tried to boost, there were some noise (sounds like when battery was low) but still could not start. I don't understand why I cannot boost it, since the other battery is fine, and I can start the Intrepid. Can anyone give me some suggestion? Thanks a lot! |

Re: Battery died?
It could be the alternator.
Another thing, next time a battery dies, and you have the car started..drive the car for a while, or leave it running for over 40mins-to let the alternator give the battery a descent charge. Some battery's have a very little charge, and if left alone for a couple days, can die. I suggest getting the alternator tested by a mechanic, if thats fine, recharge that battery fully-better yet, go to walmart and get a battery for like $45. |

Re: Battery died?
BTW, if the battery is old..get a new one, even if it aint broke..good preventive maintenance.
I need one for my 95 tbird :-( |

Re: Battery died?
Most likely there's a bad connection somewhere. Check your connections at the battery and starter.
