Transmission not shifting
We just did a swap from a Chevy 305/TH350 to a Pontiac 400/TH400. A problem we ran into was that we can't get the car into drive. It seems to work in "1", but nothing else.
Is it possible that there is a cable length issue between a TH350 and a TH400 such that using the original cable will not allow the car to be shifted into "D"? Of the three holes on the lever on the transmission, the cable from the stock shifter is in the front most hole (square end of bracket) when connected to the TH400.

The cables are the same, see if you can shift the tranny by hand with engine off.Might be a problem with the linkage if th tranny worked before... |

The transmission didn't seem to have a problem before being removed from the donor car. This is really becoming a fun little project. Thanks again for your help!

Re: Transmission not shifting
it is only an adjustment problem even with the B&M shifter you will need to play with it for awhile before it locks in each gear properly. also don't use the cable that will come with the shifter order the 3 foot heavy duty cable it is stronger and you won't have as much cable to loop around as excess and it will be easier to adjust
