2000 impala clicking noise
I've recently started noticing a clicking or popping noise coming from what sounds like the left front wheel area. It only happens at slow speeds when I turn right. Anyone have any ideas what it is? Thanks!

Re: 2000 impala clicking noise
It's the subframe -- needs to be replaced. The 2000 Impala and Monte Carlo's were built on the same frame, and it fit neither of them well. That's what they told me when I had mine replaced 3 years ago and it hasn't been a problem since then.

Sub-frame.... sounds serious.... is there a safety recall on this? How much would something like this cost?

I can't remember - it was under warranty when I had it done. I think it's 4 hours of labor but I don't recall how much the parts cost.

I had a similiar problem, dealer thought it was the steering shaft P/N 010376430, they replaced it twice - still had this clicking. The said something about bearings in the the upper suspension, they finally figured it out - was steering shaft boots, I guess they were dried out. Once those were replaced, no more noise. |
