burn smell
i have a 98 4.3l blazer and about a week ago i chenged the spark plugs and after riding around for a while i noticed that the engine had sort of a burnt smell.when i open the hood, i could smell it for about 1 minute then is slowly fades away. It wasnt extremely smelly, but i could smell it i dont kow what it could be? I checked to see if there were any oil leaks causing this and could not find any. Does any one know where this smell is coming from? Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Re: burn smell
I've got a '98 Blazer and I have noticed a smell as well. It really isn't so much of a burnt smell, just that something is hot. It doesn't smell like oil or any other fluid being burned.
I had noticed that some of the insulation from the under body had fallen and was resting on the exhaust pipe after the manifold. You may want to see if that is the source of your smell as well. |

Re: burn smell
you know i had checked to see if it was the insulation and i did see some touching im going to try to get it out of the way tomorrow see if that was the problem. and i agree it isnt much of a burnt smell but something over heating.
by plug wire, are you referring to the spark plug wire? what happens if they are touching, do you think that could be the smell? |
