Question boost controller?

i was looking up the tuning guide on dsmtuner.com and it says when you up your turbo to higher levels you wanna get a boost controller, so my question is what exactly is a booost controller? what does i do and do you have to work it yourself or is it something that does stuff all by itself? and also is it possible to raise the boost on your stock turbo without buying any upgrades?

Re: boost controller?

A boost controller does exactly what its called. It controls boost. Im not sure what you mean by you having to work it yourself, but yea you have to manually (whether its a manual or electronic controller) adjust the boost. No, you cannot raise the boost on your car without other mods. I mean you can, but it wouldnt make sense and it could be detrimental to your car. Safely, you can run 15 psi on a t25 turbo. You might wanna invest on a boost gauge of course, and a BOV that holds more boost than the stock 2g. So once again if you wanna raise boost to 15 psi get a boost gauge and a BOV. And there are many other mods that will help you raise boost on a turbo upgrade effectively and efficiently.

it realy doesnt matter how big the bov is. Just as long as it can hold boost. Like the 1st gen bov holds boost better than 2g and there about 50 bucks on ebay. Or you can get a greddy type s (which im getting) and put that on. But you will need a flange to be able to hook up to your stock piping. Or i suggest you just replace all the intercooler pipes while youre at it. www.dejontool.com has good piping.
