what do you guys think?

I currently have a 2002 GT mustang..it got rearended..it's awaiting repairs. I'd hate to go and abandon my modular motor..but I'm thinking about getting a foxbody as my racecar and that as my daily driver. I have a little under $4,000 which I was going to use as money to mod my mod. So I was wondering what you guys think I should look for in a foxbody and what I could expect to get for around $3500. I'm pretty sure I'll probably rip out the stereo/air conditioning. Naturally I'd be aiming for a notchback because they're lighter. and what do you guys think is better in a foxbody? auto or manual? I'm pretty sure the foxbodies have AOD autos? and I'm not sure which 5spd they have. I have a pretty good amount of experience working on 302s so I can do my own work.

Re: what do you guys think?

My friend has an 82’ 5.0 that looks real mean and with the exhaust he has (spintech) it’s pretty loud. He also has a new cam, ignition, headers, carb, intake manifold, fuel pump, rockers, brand new T5 tranny, and headwork. Also rear upper control arms that he hasn’t but in yet, and rims/tiers. I don’t know how much you would have to spend on that year because he got it from his dad, but I bought my 90’ for $900. I think he has spent about $3000 on everything but the rims/tiers. We think its making about 350hp. For a race care I would put a manual tranny in it. It depends on the year but the came with both trannys. Oh, also his dad put in the rear disk brakes. If I’m wrong with any of this info pleas let me know.

Ya know as much money as my one mustang soaks up I can't imagine having two. I think you got yourself a plan, modding the fox body is gonna be cheaper. Just don't use the money you get to fix your 2002.
