Part out or sell whole?

There' a 91ish Talon (2.0 turbo, AWD) in my friends garage. It needs a starter and a battery to run. Unfortunately, it was a free car from a neighbor, and he never received the title before the neighbor jumped town, and the process of getting the title is more trouble than it's worth. So, on to the meat or the topic, would it be better for him to part the car out, or to sell it as a whole?

Re: Part out or sell whole?

Where are you located and how good is the body?

I am looking for a 1st gen that I can rip apart and use it for a full blown race car so therefor I would not need a title cause I would trailer it to the track and back. If you were to sell it as a whole how much would you be looking to get out of it?

If you have any messanger services, add me, my sn names are in my profile.

Re: Part out or sell whole?

In my state, I Would simply give the neighbor 50 bucks to file for a lost title and drive it on. Why part out a car that needs a battery? And an AWD turbo at that. An hour at the registry seems worth it to me. Whats this world coming to...

Hmm... perhaps you didn't actually read it, I did mention that the neighbor had jumped town, aka, not available to apply for lost title. And here in washington, you have to possess the car for a lengthy period in this situation before you can apply for a lost title without the previous owner. EclipseRST, the body is in decent shape, it's not immaculate, but nor is it dented and dinged. I have only seen the car twice myself, but I'd have no problem driving it if it would start. It's located in Oak Harbor WA, 98278. Not sure how much he'd want for the whole car, I can find out this afternoon and post it, or if you beat me to it, make an offer and I'll run it by him.

Hey, he doesn't have messenger, but you can email him at [email protected]. He's looking to get $2500 and if you need to ship it, arrangements and costs are on the buyer. Thanks.

Re: Part out or sell whole?

Whoa... Thats a little steep for a car without a title!! I think I'll pass on that. If he ends up parting it out and ends up selling just the chassis for under say $500 then I might be interested. Good luck with parting it out.
