ecu question

i was told the idle problem is being caused by a faulty computer. I found a few on ebay im looking at what do u think is it worth taking the chance.
Also can someone explain the sequence of numbers on the ecu. the numbers on mine are 37820-pm5-a060... what oter ones can be used incase i cant find the exact one. or does it matter pls help.....

Re: ecu question

a pm5 ecu goes to a 1.5 motor,
not for sure what models, but it came with my DX,
the ecu is probably not the problem for your erractic idle,
but your more then welcome to purchase a new one,
which willl cost you around 20-30 dollars on ebay,
anywhere else maybe 50$

n-e-wayz, I'm not to sure from All the ecu's that will fit,
but the pm9 will work also,

for your idle:
give it a tune up,check the EACV,AIT,ext...

btw,what year/model is your civic?

Re: ecu question

There is really no other ecu that will work with your car! I believe a PM8 will out of a STD hatch? If you need a 5spd PM5 ecu ill sell you mine for $35 bucks shipped! Works fine on 83K miles on it!

ecu ?????

well the idle is very irratic it shoots up an down by itself... i have already given it a tune up and changed the o2 sensor and the idle speed control valve origanl honda of course. my mechanic showed my how the mixure was to rich because i just replaced the spark plugs two weeks ago and they are already fouled and blackened. He also noted the idle surge is being caused by fuel being injected into the throttle body when its not supposed to. alll that excessive fuel is causein it to bog down he said it was a computer problem because the sensors that control that are on the throttle body and are run off the ecu.. tell me what u think about this is he fillin me of shit or is it lagit....tnx also noted all the spark plug wires were bad will change origanal honda .........

Re: ecu ?????

it is being caused by a sensor on the throttle body,
but that doesn't mean the ecu's faulty,
have you checked to see if you have any codes?

Re: ecu question

PM9-STD ecu
PM5-DX ecu
PM6-Si ecu

U have DPFI so only the pm9 and pm5 will work since they have it too. The others are meant for MPFI, so when u hook it up, no go.
