Re: My 95wont Idle At All
Dude, slow down typing or something. I can't make sense of half the crap you wrote and the other half took me a sec to understand what you meant to type. Anyways, when you let a vehicle just sit, there are things you gotta do before doing so. ANd when you get ready to use it again, there is alot of stuff to do before you just crank the motor over. It's kinda "unhealthy" for a vehicle to just sit. My immediate thought was stale gas but you said you have put in new gas. Is that you put "new gas" in after trying to start it with "old gas" first? Over the time you've been storing it, do you either drain the gas tank, or atleast use a fuel stabilizer? Have you ever let it sit for say 6 mnths (or more) and just decided to crank it it up all the sudden without taking any precautions? You see, gas will "gel" up over time and/or will not become volitile. And if you have ever ran old gas through the motor, more than likely you have gotten some of the "gell-iness" through the lines, injectors/jets, heads, valves, etc. And storing/driving it the way you do may take a couple of years or so to notice the damage that has been done. If you have properly taken measures when storing/driving vehicle, let me know and I'll help you brainstorm.

yes i have taken most precations, since the last time i got gas i have had stable in it, i did however turn it over with that gas, afer draining it i did notice some tarnishing, meaning the gas was bad. now it will turn over and idle for about a second, and it is running real rich, with the new gas and some injector cleaner.

Re: My 95wont Idle At All
Although you use stabilizer, gas will still go bad. Hate to say it but you might have to blow out your fuel lines and thouroughly clean you intake components. Hopefully your fuel pump will hang in there but its possible it will burn up if there is resistance delivering fuel due to being clogged. Had a buddy who went through this crap on his Delta 88. We knew it was the gas thing 'cause dude he bought it from admitted to car just sitting there for 2 yrs. A trick you can try since yours doesn't sound as severe (yet) is pouring some Isopropyl alcohol (95% or better- recommend 98% if possible) into your tank and drive it, using that tank up. Ratio to use would be like a typical 16 oz bottle for every 10-15 gal of fuel. What this will do is revolitilize the gas, basically making it good again. Will also break up gas into liguid properties rather than that gel like stuff (tarnish) that it turns into. Most carb/injector cleaners contain a substance that acts like isopropyl alcohol but also contains other junk. Worth a shot if you normally take the precautions you should when storing/rarley driving a vehicle.

Re: My 95wont Idle At All
we did drain all the bad gas out but the only real problem is getting it to stay running, it as if it was starving for fuel but it has too much, like if there is fuel jus not enough pressure, we did take the hypertech computer chip out and it helped a little but still no consistant running or idle, if i could get it to run decent i would run more cleaner but i justcant keep it running with out constantly tapping the gas. thanks for your in put

Re: My 95wont Idle At All
I understand it ain't runnin' smoothly, thats why you posted this thread. But, what I'm saying is run that Isopropyl alcohol through the motor even if it means constantly tapping the gas to stay running, burn that shit out of there, or you could always blow out your fuel lines. The alcohol thing is a trick that might prevent the need to blow out your lines, but you might still have to do that. I bet thats where the problem is. Think of the inner diameter of a fuel line, imagine gas just sitting in there for x amount of time, since its more spread out within the line, its more likely to gum up there than the actual tank right? As you said, " it as if it was starving for fuel but it has too much, like if there is fuel jus not enough pressure." Well, if the inner diameter of your fuel line is reduced due to tarnished/gunned up gas, wouldn't the fuel pressure be less? Wouldn't you still be getting gas at the intake?

Re: My 95wont Idle At All
the only thing I would say it might possibly hurt is your O2 sensor(s). Then again, so can alot of those fuel injection cleaners!! Ever read the back of them?? Usually the high dollar ones will warn you of possibly harming the catalytic converter and/or O2 sensors. The cheaper ones usually say WILL NOT HARM these components and these are the ones that seam to act alot like isoprpyl alcohol mixed with octane booster. Personally I haven't seen this harm any vehicle I've done this to. But I don't want to say there is no way it won't, I'm just using my intuition based on products on the market that seem to be more less rubbing alcohol but bottled up as fuel injection cleaner and what I've read on various labels. To be on the safe side, you could unscrew your O2 sensors and run it through. Very seriously doubt it will harm you catalytic converter UNLESS you do this too much/often. Start with a 1/4 tank of gas, run it through and see if it helps. If so, maybe run 1/4 tank of regular gas, no additives, then try it again on another 1/4 tank. Also, not sure if you are familiar w/ Race Trac gas stations or QT, but have you ever seen the label posted on the pumps warning you that their product contains 10% alcohol? Yeah, they have cheap gas but you only burn 90% of it, ever notice your gas milage ain't the same??? Why do you think these gas stations would put 10% alcohol in their gas???? Honestly it's been about a year since I've seen these labels on the pumps but it's also been about a year where their prices aern't considerably lower than others as well. But still, why would they have done this?? Maybe cause they bought older, not-quite-so refined gas and adding alcohol makes it more volitile??
Sorry for such a long reply on such a simple ? |

Re: My 95wont Idle At All
thank you for your help, im going to check the fuel pessure and then try your method depending on my results, but thank you again, if you think of anything else let me know
