Check Engine Light: Code 41.. fix?

Code 41 is a primary oxygen sensor heater circuit. If I replace the O2 sensor, will that fix the problem?

How easy is it to do? And do I need Honda to clear the code? Basically trying to avoid the dealership.

Re: Check Engine Light: Code 41.. fix?

I had code 41 yesterday and the reason it popped up for me is that one of the four wires coming out of the o2 sensor was pulled out of the harness. check to make sure that all four wires are securely fastened into the harness. make sure that all four wires are pushed alll the way into the harness and that one isnt loose, my green and one of the black ones was loose. if it still comes up then just like code 43 you need to replace the sensor. its extremely easy. if you go to the auto parts store to get a new o2 sensor you can get a universal one and then split the wires on your own for like 50 bucks, or the real BOSCH one for like $250, and you have to get an o2 socket set, unless you have like 19 or 21mm wrenches chillin. usually they sell you the set and then you use it and when youre done you can bring it right back and get youre money back, its a loaner tool, they might even let you just go out front and use it for free. if youre a female theyll probably go out there and do the whole thing for you for less than 80 bucks. any dealer will charge like 4 or 500. but first check to make sure that a wire didnt get pulled out of the harness like it did on mine.

Where is the harness? Never played with around with the O2 sensor before.

Prolly have to get the real one and not the universal.. I don't know much about wiring.

REALLY EASY. JUST GET SOME WRENCH THAT WILL FIT YOUR OXYGEN SENSOR (DO NOT USE ADJUSTABLE WRENCH) TO REMOVE IT. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE SAME REPLACEMENT OXYGEN SENSOR FOR YOUR CIVIC. DONT BUY THE GENERIC UNIVERSAL TYPE.

Re: Check Engine Light: Code 41.. fix?

the harness which i was referring to iis where the wires coming off of the o2 sensor meet back up into a grey clipping harness which clips its counterpart.

the harness i was talking about is where the o2 sensor plugs into your car, make sure the wires on the o2 sensor side are pushed in all the way.
