Water Pump?
I know nothing about Alero's but My girlfriend's Aunt ask me to take a look at her 2001 Alero. When you put water/coolant into the radiator overflow container, it drains within seconds and you see it all on the ground. Would anyone know if thats the waterpump? I only seen the car at night, So i cant see anything but is it possible to change the waterpump in this car without taking the whole engine out of it? When you turn it on, all the water is drained onto the ground. Any help would be much appreicated.
Thanks.. Jon |

I recently had my water pump replaced on my 1999 Olds Alero (v6)
It cost me under $200 for parts and labor, so I dont think that the engine has to be removed for them to fix it. I remember that when mine busted, it sprayed coolant into the engine compartment, and onto the heat shield in the hood, as well as leaking pretty steadily onto the ground. Good luck with it... Re: Water Pump?
How many miles are on the car? If it is your water pump you should also have the serpintine belt replaced if you have not done so. That way they won't charge you labor because they'll need to remove the belt anyway to do the pump.
