i would like to try my car w/o power steering because it really annoys the shit outa me how the steering wheel is so sensitive and it just feels lose in general.

so my ? is what all do i have to remove. all i know so far is i gotta take out the power steering pump but what else? and what do i do with all the hoses and belts? and if i take out the hoses im guessing there will be empty connections wherever and i dunno, anyways a link to instructions would be nice

dont waste your time. running a power steering system with no fluid in it is worse then no power steering at all and actually very damaging to the components that are left in the car.

You cant "completely remove" the system ~ do you know how power steering works? The only way to run WITHOUT power steering would be to swap in parts from a car WITHOUT power steering... you might as well just sell your car or trade someone that doesnt have power steering because you are looking at wasting a whole lotta money.

Total waist of time. You will have more pain than gain on that one. Also a car without p/s is a bitch to drive, Unless you like to get a workout while driving. I love the smooth feel of p/s:frog: :bandit:

alright thanks guys, ive driven cars w/o power steering and i liked it. and i dont wanna hassle with selling my car and buying another, tho it is a tempting thing to do, sell my car for more than i bought it for then buy a cheaper one, and i would do it too but my mom deals with all the loan crap and i doubt she'd let me do all this hoopla and yea.

Man im so tired of reading posts like "sell your car and buy one with/without that."

You can buy a new maual steering rack for about 160 or so from summitracing. Its made by CompetitionEngeneering i think.
If you sell yours you might make some money on that too.
If you know what youre doing you can do it, otherwise i would suggest buying some of your buddies some beers and see if they want to work on it.

i didnt even know comp engineering made those...hmmm... thats pretty cheap to for a whole rack. hey dude if you got the mechanical knowledge to remove and install a rack then go for.

p.s. there needs to be a monthly magazine that comes out that displays all the new parts for all cars. wouldnt that be some shit.

im so sick of hearing people say no power steering sucks. when i first got my car it felt weird, but now i hate to drive any car with power steering. the time no power steering may be hard is parking, but its not even really hard then. without power steering you have such a better feel of the road.

All you have to do is take off the p/s belt and leave the bottle 1/4-1/2 full. This will allow for fluid movement. You can drop the pump and plug off the lines. Leave the bottle, though (for fluid movement). When you get the $, maybe you could get the manual rack.
