Cool Pictures!!!!

the top picture is the interior of my most recently acquired 1987 CRX HF.

the bottom picture is the CRX, and my 89 Integra behind it (the beetle mentioned in my sig is off to the left)

Edit: sorry for the crappy quality, cheap digital cam!

the scary thing, is that those aren't caps
those are alloy wheels

and i agree.. they are fugly as hell.. i cant stand them, but they will do for a while

cybercrx: no, that is the second step

the first step is rebuilding the integra engine to about 160HP
its got cylinder head problems and goes through oil like gas

Lol, I didn't think those were hubbys. Those are off of like an old escort or something aren't they? Your rex looks pretty clean though.

its not perfect.. there are some dents on the driver's door, and most of the front bodywork is cracked and/or broken.. but the rust is minimal

The wheels aren't the most pathetic thing on that car.....the nose is falling off, the driver side fender is missing large chunks, the interior is gross, and the radiator has a nice large crack in it..:o :o

Thank God we are dropping a built up D16 in it, stripping the interior and fiberglassing the front!

BTW: I am Shawn's better half, the one who doesnt own any Hondas j/k, I love my Hondas too!

It doesn't look bad in the picture. What series D16 are you putting in? Is it D16A6 or the Z6? I think the D16A6 would be really cool, 'cause you don't see many guys building those up.

you see that 1st gen teg there.....thats the D16 that is getting dropped into that Rex......

I believe the engine code is D16A3? (Shawn would know it exactly, its his car, and he is currently at work) we were just discussing D16 engine codes last night....but anyway its an 89 Teg....getting HKS cams, so on and so forth....

D16A1 = DOHC 16V EFI engine in the 86-89 integra, well technically the 88-89 integra has a different intake manifold and an electronic advance ignition system with internal coil.

86-7 D16A1: 99ft-lbs@5500rpm, 113HP@6250rpm, redline 7000rpm, fuel cutoff 7500rpm, 9.3:1 compression

88-9 D16A1: 103ft-lbs@5500rpm, 118HP@6500rpm, redline 7000rpm, fuel cutoff 7500rpm, 9.5:1 compression

the best hybrid would be a 86-7 bottom end with 88-9 top end

the 86-7 D16A1 has stronger rods and a shorter 5th gear (for the tranny, 0.823 in the 86-7, 0.848 in the 88-9)

the 88-9 pistons would be better, as they have a higher compression ratio

anyhow i am building up the Integra engine with aftermarket rods & pistons, port & polished head, HKS cams (expensive, but not regrinds, for better reliability), balanced and blueprinted bottom end, etc, etc

my HP target is 160HP at the crank (~135 at the wheel). its quite possible as the g1 integra engines are basically detuned ZC's, and ZCs are about 128HP (dont believe that 135HP BS, it isnt true, the ZCs are 129PS which is about 128HP). a little work should bring the integra well past the ZC

once you start getting to this level of mods, since the design of the engines are the same and both are being worked, the power difference between the more detuned US engine and the JDM one diminishes.
