new NOISE?

Well guys

I have a new noise in my 94 ZJ 5.2L. I put my front driveshaft back on because we just got our first winter snow, I removed it because my front axle needs rebuilt (new Diff and pinion bearing) in which I plan on doing myself here real soon it is making the normal whinning and growling noise so I removed it to get rid of the noise, well today I put it back on and there is a new noise, I have not looked at it, it is too late now and really cold, I will prolly lift the jeep up 2morow and put it in gear and try to locate the noise. But I wias hoping someone had a similar problem and could pinpoint it.

Well anyways the noise it a jingling noise, it only does it while moving, doesn't really change with speed.
My first GUESS would be the cotter pin/locking tab and spring washer for the axle nut is not in place and jingling around in the wheel/hub. But it could not be that because it only does it now that I put the driveshaft back on.

any thoughts?

Re: new NOISE?

I took a look at it today, and it was the BREATHER LINE for the trtansmission, I knocked it down off the top of the tranny a few weeks ago when I put in a new engine wiring harness and it the metal end was rubbing on the front driveshaft causing the jingling/scraping noise.

Re: Re: new NOISE?

Hey dk

Thank goodness for the simple fixes sometimes. Every one needs a break like that once in a while........
