Best Tranny for 1st Gen B16a.

My friend at work has a 91 SI with a B16a in it. Right now the car has an S1 tranny in it. I believe his synchros are going out in third and fourth gear. Which B series cable tranny would be the best choice for him? he wants the closest gear ratio possible because he is sick of my ZC tranny beating up on his B16. I would tell him myself but Im not very knowledgeable with B series trannies. thank you.

JDM YS1- It has the closest ratios and also sometimes comes with an optional LSD.

The Next best choice would be a JDM S1 or J1...close ratios as well.

Are you sure he has a JDM S1 trans because there also is a US S1 which has really long gears.

my JDM Y1 trans is supposed to be geared for acceleration, but it sucks for highway driving (about 83mph is 4500rpms in 5th ) I've been in a B16 CRX w/ a JDM S1 trans, and it felt very similar to me. If you want to be able to launch good, get a Y1 trans w/ the opt. LSD, or the JDM YS1 w/ the opt. LSD, like 91zc said. I've seen dohc ZC powered crx's running low 15's with i/h/e. Very close to b16 crx times w/ i/h/e. They are very close in the beginning, because the zc is lighter than the b16, and i belive that it has a little more torque. i know that the b16 has 111ft/lbs. not sure about the ZC tho
