Best headlight bulbs?

Had a headlight go out on me.. so I figured I might as well upgrade.. what's the best type of aftermarket bulb?

I'm also a little worried because the bulb is only out with low beams.. it comes back on when I flick my highs on... but I was under the impression there was only one bulb?

Re: Best headlight bulbs?

it is only 1 bulb but there is 2 parts to the bulb so the highbeam\drl's run off a seperate part.
if i were you i would go with either stock (cheap) or piaa (they are the best i have seen yet)

I got some silverstars.. no one around here seems to carry PIAA bulbs..

Anyways.. how do I replace the driver side bulb? I know your supposed to pull the bulb out but my engine is in the way.. there's two fluid containers blocking the back of the headlight (windshield washer and power steering?).

You can pull the power steering fuild container out of the bracket and move it out of the way. Then you'll have to reach back there and just do it. Moving the container out of the bracket will help a lot though. Pull up, it should come right out. You are replacing both headlight bulbs at once, right? Otherwise you'll have 2 different looking headlights.

Even though you've purchase the Silverstars already, if you havn't read the link CivicSpoon gave yet, read it. It is full of useful information, which is why it is a sticky thread.

Yes I am changing both out at the same time, and I did read the thread, which is why i went with the silverstars after being unable to find the PIAA Super Plasma.

Now I just have to wait til it stops raining..

Well I got the silverstars in.. they look so nice! The low beams are about as bright as my old high beams..

That driver side bulb is a bitch to get at.. the power steering fluid container only moves about a half inch.

Re: Best headlight bulbs?

Yeah man, wait 'til you're driving and hit the high beams on those. I used them for the first time 2 nights ago and couldn't believe how much light came out of those. I could see the whole road way of a 4 lane road, and it was clear as all hell.

Maybe it's different on the sedan. I have a repair/service manual for my car. There was simply no room for my hand unless I moved the powersteering fluid.

Yeah I clicked on the highs as soon as I could.. I love them.

The bulbs were 20 each at Autozone.

Okay, I just wanted to make sure. Better safe than sorry type of thing. Also, just for future reference, since some people don't realize it, the "H4" Super Plasma GT-X's are the ones that would fit in a 92-00 civic. Also, if anyone has a car like an Accord and/or Integra that uses 9005 & 9006 bulbs, the "HB" type would be used for both high and low beams.

Not that Silverstars are bad by any means(though I personally prefer the super plasma's), but some people get confused over which bulb type goes in which car with PIAA's due to the bulb type names used. Most bulb types have 2 names, for example the 9005 is also known as an HB3 and the 9006 is also known as an HB4, hence the name of these PIAA's Super Plasma GT-X's bulbs as HB. The HB is new and is not listed on the website, but PIAA USA does make them.

Anyways, back on track, lol. I'm glad to see you liked the Silverstars. As you read, I'll only recommend those or the PIAA's.
