Re: Max boost for stock mk3 supra

I suggest that you do not buy a BC as a first mod, you'll only end up blowing the HG and ruining another fine 7m if you get crazy with the boost. Invest in some reliability mods and/or basic mods first, then move on to more advanced modifications. Start off with a good filter and a full 3" exhaust. The exhaust alone will raise boost a couple psi as well as decrease spool time. Remember that (in this situation) the more HP you have the less reliable it will be, the more likely that your going to blow the 15 year old stock HG. Also no, you don't need to even touch the exhaust manifold unless your going with an aftermarket turbocharger (not CT-26 flanged).

Re: Max boost for stock mk3 supra

Actualy you can get more boost out of it by using a dial a boost set up. When it detonates or you get a cut in fuel, back it off a bit and you'll be alright. In general, you dont want to exceed 35% increase in Hp on stock internals. All supras turbo or not, come with hardcore parts. As said before, the head gasket is the week spot.

If you wanna get rid of the fuel cut off, you can just switch to a lexus ls 400 Reimer. Its almost exactly the same as the supras.

you can only make around-10.5 to 11 psi before you hit fuel cut. The first mod should definetly be a free flow exhaust and air filter. Then consider a boost controller. I wouldn't recommend more than about 10-11 psi on an original 7M. If you replace your head gasket and use arp bolts or studs you could add a Lexus AFM, 550cc injectors, SAFC and boost controller. This setup would get you in the 300rwhp range wiht some tuning..you also would want to install a walbro fuel pump

Re: Max boost for stock mk3 supra

I just got a manual boost controler. Right now I run 5 psi according to the stock gauge. I'm going to put it on and run 8 psi. I have replaced my HG though and torqued down to 72 ft-lb.
