heated seat not heating
I think the element in my driver's side seat went out. My husband checked the switch and there's juice going out to the seat but nothing seems to work. I checked back in the archives several months back and haven't found any discussion on this subject.
Has anyone had any experience with replacing the element or anything else with the seat heating system? I'm hoping it's not too much of a pain in the you-know-what, cuz I wear lots of skirts to work and got used to the warm seats. I guess I can put up with it for another winter if I have to! Thanks for any assistance! |

Re: heated seat not heating
i have some problems this fall with electrical stuff ...it usually turns out to be connections, plug ins with some corrosion on it. check under the seat where it plugs into the wire harness...somtimes a bit of wiggling is all it takes but a good cleaning and some vaseline on the contacts will prevent it from happening again too soon...news

Happened to mine a while back, be ready to fork out some serious cash for it. The heating element itself cannot be replaced if that's the problem, basically the whole seat cover needs to be replaced. Cost me about $1000 but I can't live w/out heated seats so I forked over the dough.

On my 95 the element in the seatback went open circuit. The lower cushion element and the seatback element are wired in series, if one opens up you lose heat totally. I was able to bypass the open seatback element with a one ohm resistor and restore heating to the bottom cushion....better then nothing. The stealer is not getting anymore of my hard earned cash if I can help it.

For the classic Aurora
There is a Technical service bulletin No.: 99-08-50-021 That covers Front seat heat elements not working and how to replace them.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot I even posted this question. We've been pretty lucky with the weather in Minnesota that I haven't been complaining about not having my heated seat. But it looks like my luck is running out! I'll have my husband check out that service bulletin. |
