knocking
just alittle over 105,000 miles, never a problem until now! it knocks. its a 98 4 cyl. i know some about cars just not how to deal with this. i just had toyota change the oil after sears (had a free certificate or i would of done it myself).i ran mobil 1 ss for like around 60,000 miles and at 100k my mother in law took it to sears at 100k (i wasnt happy) and from 100 to 105k it burned 1 qt. (thats never happened) now 50 miles after oil change this @#$%^&*()$%^&*($%^&*$%^& MOTHER @*((&*^^%%*^&*(^^&*^*()*(&^&*(&* happens!!! could it be the oil? or do i have valve problems? i had a friend that has a 2.4 nissan truck and after he had changed the oil the same thing happened so he reved it really high and no more problem.should i do the same ? and one more thing would driving it like that make things worse? any suggesions would be very apreciated.thanks

Re: knocking
You shouldn't be able to hurt it by beating the s**t out of it. A knock? You mean a valve tap? Or a bottom end knock? Did you replace the timing belt recently? 1 quart of oil for 5000 miles with 105,000? I wouldn't worry about the oil consumption if I were you.

Re: knocking
Yea, go out and run it hard and the valves will probably readjust and stop tapping. About the oil, don't worry about it, just don't switch engine oils like that too much.
