1998 Camry Idle Speed
Hello:I have a 1998 Camry LE with a 4 cylinder with 98,000 miles on it.I recently bought this car.
It seems to idle lower than I think it should. I see there is a idle adjustment screw with a lock nut on it.They have some yellow paint on it that looks like it has been that way since it left the factory? Looks like all I have to do is loosen the lock nut,and turn up the idle slightly. I do not see any other way of turning the idle speed up a little. Has anyone else ever had to adjust the factory pre-set idle speed? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards...Chuck Lubbe Silvis,Illinois 309-792-5013 |

Re: 1998 Camry Idle Speed
Ideal idle speed should be around 500-700 RPM. The yellow paint was done by the factory for warranty purposes, this way Toyota dealers could tell if anything had been "tampered" with. If your car is still under a dealer or factory warranty, then don't mess with it, because it will void it. If your car isn't under warranty, then you're in the clear.
