rattleing around turbo area
hey guys when i drive my wrx and i go over 3500rpm's i can hear a little rattling on my right side and when i get on it and drive it hard it only boost 7psi instead of stock 10psi do you think it could be my internal wastegate letting out pressure or a vaccum hose? and what exhaust system should i get cause i'm looking at hks hi-power right now

Re: rattleing around turbo area
Could be a wastegate leak or vacuum leak accounting for hte loss in boost, but a vaccuum leak would probably not cause any kind of rattling sound..although anything is possible.
I'd pressure test your car for leaks and check your wastegates. Also are you getting any smoke or burnt oil? How many miles are on your car? If you are getting some blue smoke out of hte exhaust you have an oil leak and it could be your turbos...not likely, but possible.

Re: rattleing around turbo area
Well, considering the stock boost should be up around 13psi, you've not been getting near the max if you've only been getting 10psi anyhow.

nice i thought stock psi was set at 10 but if your sure its 13 thats awesome.i thought it was a vaccum leak and i was gonna spray it with a spray bottle with water in it but i hadn't had the time. what about the wastegate accuator? could that be a possibility. my car only has 30,561 miles on it

possibly a piece of debris got into your exhaust stream before the turbo and damaged the turbo wheel...
if the turbo wheel is damaged or has a lot of play it can cause a wierd grinding noise, and it will also not flow (compress) the same amount of air it used to. which would cause your low boost level and that sound your hearing. just a guess... but its probably a boost leak of some kind...or maybe and exhaust leak...
