350 trans inspection cover problems

I have 79 malibu that had a 267 V8 and 350 trans. I just installed a 383 with a TCI 2000 rpm converter. My problem is the inspection cover now will not fit. It hits the flywheel and touqe converter. I tried an older cover and it also hit the flywheel and the bolts didn't line up either. I am not sure If around 79 that gm was using 350 trans with a differant bellhouing or what is going on. I am told it is a 3speed turbo 350 trans. It has a vacume modulator and a trans kick down cable. The pan is square with the passenger side rear cormer cut on an angle. Any help on what inspection cover would work would appreciated.

Re: 350 trans inspection cover problems

yah i have the same problem. i had just finnished putting in a new motor and tranny. the thing was rubbing the flywheel and it took me forever to find out why my new engine was squeeling. i still dont have a inspection cover, but i have a 700r4 that will be replacing the th350 this summer anyway.
