i need to put in a new power supply into my old computer

it wont turn on. i press the on button and the lights just flickers on the tower. so im going to put in a new power supply, how much will one cost? and are they hard to replace?

they are 20-300 dollars. are you sure that that's the problem though? They are not hard to replace.

yeah it will just kick off lilke some one had unplugged it, and wouldnt start back up, so i pulled the plug from the power and plugged it back in, so when i pressed the on button, the lights on the tower flickered. and it done nothing.

Do the lights stay on? Does the computer turn on like normal, but you just get a blank screen or do the lights just flicker a couple times and then turn off? Do you hear the fans running?

If the computer turns on and you see the lights on and the fans are running, but nothing happens and you have blank screen, then your processor has most likely kicked the bucket and you'll need a new one.

If the lights just flicker a time or two and you get no activity at all (no fans, no anything), then it's probably your power supply.

Remove the side panel, remove the 4 screws from the back, pull all the wires that are attached to the components, remove the power supply, put the new one in, connect all the wires to the same place as before, screw in the screws and you're done.
