I am a Newbie to the AE86 scene and I was wondering if all U.S. AE86 Corollas are RWD. If not then how can you tell which ones are?

Re: Question about U.S. Corolla
Yes, all AE86's are RWD. They're 1985-1985 corolla SR5 or GTS. GTS the better of the two. You can tell by the vin #. The SR5 starts with AE86 and the GTS starts with AE88. That's USDM corollas. There's also two models, hatchback and the coupe.

I thought most of the 80's Corollas where RWD, i was hoping too that they where because I wanted one.
I'll have to check it out and see which ones are RWD or not.

Re: Question about U.S. Corolla
85-87 are all RWD. The vin will start with either AE88 (GTS) or AE86 (SR5). The GTS is better

Re: Question about U.S. Corolla
from 1969-1983 ALL corollas were REAR WHEEL DRIVE. in 1984 with the introduction of the AE86 only the 2 door and hatchback were rwd, the 4 door was fwd and the same chassis as the chevy nova. The AE86 was made from 1984-1987 Anything besides the coupe or hatch is fwd. however in 1987 they also had a fwd hatch that had the 4ag in it as well. But these looked like crap, kind of like a 80's honda civic. IMO the best corollas came from the 70s (TE21-TE37) with a 2tc or from 1980-1982 the TE72 with a 3tc in it. HEMI MOTOR BABY!
