1994 Chevy K2500 Clutch??? Problem
I have owned my 1994 Chev y K2500 for a little more than a year now. Since I purchased this vehicle complete with a plow set up and trailer hitch, I know that the previous owner towed and plowed. About two weeks ago I noticed a change in position where my clutch pedal would engage and disengage. The pedal was almost at the very top of travel and it seemed to be getting harder to get the transmission into either 1st or reverse. I took it to a local dealer and had them evaluate the vehicle. They suggested a new clutch assembly, flywheel & slave cylinder. When I got the truck back I noticed a "growling", not grinding, noise as I shifted from 1st to 2nd and from 3nd to third. It didn't seem to occur on the down shift but rather on the up shift. Anyway, I took it back and the dealer now installed a new clutch master cylinder, a $275.00 job. Guess what? I left the dealer and it was doing the same thing. If I was to take a guess as to what the problem is, I would look for something causing the clutch disc to spin while it is being engaged. Could this be a faulty clutch assembly? ANY IDEAS?

Re: 1994 Chevy K2500 Clutch??? Problem
Could be a broken finger on the pressure plate,or the clutch pilot bearing/bushing could be siezing up,either one could cause your problem. Looks like clutch time. Flywheels can usually be resurfaced instead of replaced. Slave cyls. usally leak as the first sign of failure.
