CEL just came on..
Was driving around today testing my new radar detector.. was pulling up to a stoplight when the CEL came on. Came home, popped the hood.. couldn't find anything catastrophically wrong. Was running just fine, ran fine all the way home. I was overdue for an oil change (date-wise, I'm still within the 3000 miles) so I checked that.. oil is fine. Only thing I saw was power steering fluid is low, but I couldn't figure out as to why it would suddenly trip a CEL.
Thoughts? It's a 95 Civic EX coupe. |

reach under the dash on the passenger side and there will be a green thing with two plugs in it. If the lip thing is facing down, pull out the plug on the right. Brige it(Take a piece of wire and plug ist into each hole) Then, turn your car to acc. and the check engine light will come on, then go off. it will flash long for the first digit, and short flashes for the second digit. So if you one long blink and 5 short one its 15. There will be a long pause inbetween codes if there are muliple codes. Tell us what number(s) you get.

What type of wire do you use to bridge it? I'm not too experienced with car electrical systems.

And where on the passenger side are the wires? I looked under the dash and couldn't really see something like you were describing..
The light was not on today when I started the car to go to the bank. When I got up to around 50 or so however, it came back on. |

If your still really not sure just take it to the dealer or a shop and have them run a full diagnostic on it.

Re: CEL just came on..
theres no need to take it to the dealer, thats why were here, to give him an alternative. all you have to do to find the green harness boot is reach up between the back of the glove box and the blower motor, in the very corner. just bend a paper clip and use that, not a wire. ive used as li ttle as a staple. the count the patterns on your dash CEL light. but ya its in that corner you just gotta look and feel around for it, iit could even be hanging abbove the computer which is that weird lump your passengers always kick with their right foot. get in that corner with a flashlight and you'll find it, its a rubber green thing

Brought it over to a local shop (friend of my dad's).. he couldn't find the plug to plug the diagnostic tool into!
I hate my car.. everything is fucked up on it. Looks like someone went in there and did something wrong (carpet on my passenger side is all torn, frayed, and not properly sealed to the side).. I'll keep looking.. Definately don't want to bring it to Honda.. took a nice half hour drive today for an appointment for a diagnostic reading to find out they fucked up and never scheduled us (even though we checked the appointment yesterday). |

I checked the code.. got 41. Which is the primary oxygen sensor heater. Is it a false alarm or should I replace it?
