A Gearing Poll
This is for someone I know who has an 02 Z28 M6 with 3.42 gears stock. He wants to change to 3.73, but I don't think it'll make very much of an improvement over the 3.42's. I say he should go with 4.10's. Also, he mentioned something about 4.10's being more prone to breaking compared to 3.73's. So, those who know about this kinda thing, please vote and leave your opinion on it, thanx.

I'd say go with the 3.73's, unless he's putting different tires on back the 4.10' would be too tall. I mean that's my personal pref. but if he's just kind of a street driver and doesn't take it to the track and stuff there is no use for the 4.10's, in the higher gears it would be quicker acceleration but I'm not sure if it'd be worth it.

Re: A Gearing Poll
i'm not being impatient, I was just clearing my throat/bumping the thread back up so ppl see it.
on that note, he takes it to the track, it's not a daily driver, and had drag radials on the back.

Re: A Gearing Poll
I would go with 3.73s also. They seem to be a popular option with the M6.

Re: A Gearing Poll
would they really be any real noticable improvement over 3.42 tho?

Yeah I wasn't really bitching or anything...if it was me if it's not a daily driver then go with the 4.10's, he might have to ease it through first gear and watch his shifts but if you dont need a high top speed then the 4.10's should provide better acceleration if he's a good driver, otherwise the 4.10's are just gonna be a traction problem, but then again it's a Camaro. I dunno, i'm sure you could argue all day which is better.

Re: A Gearing Poll
If he is running power adder, 4.10's will make him shift into 5th in the 1/4.
If no adder, 4.10 is a good gear.

Re: Re: A Gearing Poll
I would go with the 4.10's. Yeah, he would notice a little difference with the 3.73's but the 4.10's would be worth the swap. And I've never heard that 4.10's are more prone to breaking.
