Mustang for ever!!

Oh I love this car.

Did that yesterday evening, without a real reference, just looked 3 or 4 times at a picture. It's cartoony, I know, but I'm satisfied with it.

Can anyone give advice for that black and white line drawings? Which surfaces become black? How do I do shading? Any ideas for a background? I already thought of the mustang logo...

@ lemorris: Do you always use a ruler? Looks better then, right?

Comments & Critics pleaze!

Re: Mustang for ever!!

I would have kept the thing in pencil if you wanted to shade. Proportions are little off near the back too.

No, I mean shading with black stripes. A thick one, then a thinner one and so on.

Re: Mustang for ever!!

I don't use a ruler when inking that often. In toons most lines tend to curve and flow. I use French Curves to connect the corners that I ink by hand.

For the shadow I just kind draw and interesting shape that flows like the contour of the car.

In most of my drawings there are glaring inaccuracies, but I sacrifice what might really be happening for visual impact. The shapes and how they work with each other adds interest for me.

I like your work. Do more.

p.s. Another slick trick is to vary your line weight. For example: Ink the contour lines or outside of the car with a thinck line and ink everything inside with a thin line.
