Angry 2000 Caravan 3.3 Backfires & misses

I have a 2000 Grand Caravan that has 104,000mi and it has ran fine. Now it has started to backfire and miss usuall during acceleration, but also misses at idle. I first changed the fuel filter and no change was evident. Next I changed the plugs, no change. Then the wires, and air filter, no change. The check engine light was coming on a while then going out. The code when I checked was "multiple cylinder misfire". I was told to disconnect the battery and let the computer "re-learn to idle", this didn't help. I cant seem to find a pattern to help troubleshoot. Can anyone help?

Re: 200 Caravan 3.3 Backfires & misses

A few possibilities:
1. The throttle body may just need a good cleaning. I had a simular problem with unknown reason misfires that was cured this way. You liberally spray carberator cleaner around and down into the throttle body. Oily carbon deposits that come in thru the PCV valve build up over time and clog air passages.
2. ODBII diagnostics will tell exactly which cylinders are misfiring. If these cyclinders are always the same, it may mean a coil pack is going bad.
