Re: what do you think about rear mount turbo(STS)

Well from the ways I've read about turboing a N/A FC you're better off going with a T2 lower and upper intake manifolds along with the entire wiring harness and ecu. You'll also need the front cover for the oil and cooling lines running to the turbo from a T2 engine. You can also use your N/A intake manifolds but it seems like it would be harder to since you would need to fab several custom parts.

Now with that said, from what I understand about the N/A engine you can't run to much boost for obvious reasons 1) high compression, 2) it's a 6 port instead of a 4 port.
Now this isn't to say that it can't be done but it seems it would be cheaper and more feasible to buy a turbo car or buy the turbo engine, harness, ecu and trans since the N/A trans won't hold up to well with much over 200 hp.

rx8 = 6 port for the 6 spd.
(auto is 4 port)

Re: what do you think about rear mount turbo(STS)

turbo setups work well with a 6 port, but all in all, we're better with turbo engines in our rx7 if we want to go turbo, its just cheaper and more reliable
the compression on the 8 will not allow very high boost numbers
