Sticking Tailgate
The tailgate is sticking...we have tried greasing it but it's NOT working. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how we can fix the tailgate ourselves. Thank you.

Check the striker plates (on each side) I have seen them bend in too much and it hangs up the latch mechanism. Very easy to fix, get some channellocks and bend it back.

Just a little post script. This truck which I just bought is already nickel and dimeing me to death. Only had it 3 months, already have had to replace the 4x4 switch, rear window, passenger side mirror, now maybe cables in the tailgate. What a pain in the ass! Chevy needs to put better quality stuff on thier trucks. Not sure I'll ever buy another one! |

You got that right! I have been nickel and dimed to no end. Door handles(two interior, two exterior) at $76 ea., hood release lever, tailgate cables,...etc. It's like the metal they r using is some kind of die cast crap they use to make childrens toys.

Re: Sticking Tailgate
try lubing the handle abbembly, there are too levers behind the handle on a pivot point, if they do not release fully the latches can not lock see other post

Re: Sticking Tailgate
your welcome, don't think it is the cold, just that lovely car killer called corrosion, a quick shot of lube every once in a while should keep it from happening again
