Launching in an Auto car...?

Sorry, if this is repost, but how do you guys launch an automatic car/truck. I'm driving in a 02 Tundra V8 rwd, not an awd truck(wtf?), but anyways, how do you luanch any automatic? I've been hearing that its not a good idea to go neutral, rev to 2000-3000 revs, than shift to Drive. i hear its not good at all, so, how do u launch a automatic?

if u launch from neutral to drive over 1000rpms, you will put heavy stress on the transmission(not good). but the most common way to do it is to use the brake gas method. push the brake all the way down, then push the gas. the car won't move, but you will feel a little rumbling. push the gas to about 2500,3000rpms if u can and when ready to go let off the brake. the reason you don't move is because of the torque converter. depends how high of a rpm it will let you go...

But remember, that will also put extra wear on your transmission.

i dont think there is a way to not put stress on the transmission. i mean aren't you putting stress on the engine when you push the accelerator going up a hill?

[Edit] the least way to put stress on the engine if you want to launch is to just sport shift it into 1st and mash the gas when you want to go, but that wouldn't be launching. The way to launch with the least stress on the transmission is to do the torque-brake method as i described in my perevious post.

Power Braking the transmission won't hurt it if you only do it every so often. Obviously, you take up to doing it everyday you'll wear out the tranny in no time. It's the same sort of wear and tear you'd get on a manual transmission/clutch if you were to launch at every light.

What kills it is the heat that builds up, so running a tranny cooler would help...

Anywho, doing that every now and again , like i said, won't kill it fast.

hmmm...i think in my the Tundra, the rear wheels starts burning out around the 3000-3500 rpms. I also had a thought that reving it (2500rpms) while foot on break, is a pretty good idea....hmmm, thanks for helping guys!!
