need help please

97 escort with split port injection
ok the other day I was driving home from work and I was pulling up to a stop light so I hit the brakes and pulled it out of gear(manual). and it died on me. well a couple dollars later and the next day I finally get it home via tow truck. lastnight I wa working on it and got it start for what seemed like 15 mins. .when it died on me again. I am thinking that the fuel pump is going out on me but I have not expierced any loss in power. It is constantly trying to start. when I turn the key postion to on I hear this strange noise comeing from what I thought was the air filter but on closer inspection it is the wiring box that is located under the air filter houseing, when I grabbed ahold of it it seems like it is vibrating thus creating the noise I hear. also on my dash the battier light and the red oil light is on.can anyone tell me what this part is that is vibrating and what the hell might be wrong with my scort. thanks for any insight that you all have.
