From what others have posted here, and what I've read in the mags, it sounds like 135-138 w/the rev limiter in place.

I had mine up to 115, and it felt smooth and stable. No shimmy, no shake, nothing to make me uncomfortable. Well, other than fear of a ticket!

First day I got my Spec I went on I-95 got this beast up to 136 mph. It had 9 miles on it and I know you're not supposed to do that shit until 500 or so miles, but once I drove it off the lot I had to see what it could do. I think with an Injen cold air and a stillen catback I could get this car up to 150 (w/o the govenor of course).

Jon

(if anyone needs shit for their cars, I ship all over the US. go to www.bestbuyus.com. Thats my store and we're right outside of Philly)

Re: Spec V Top Speed?

My 02 Spec V governor kicked in at 122MPH in 5th gear at 5800rpms, then i shifted into 6th and it sat at 4800rpms at 122MPH still.

Re: Spec V Top Speed?

there is no governor, it's drag limited

if you hit a "top speed" where it won't accelerate anymore, that simply means that your car doesn't have enough power to go any faster. I repeat, there is NO governor/speed limiter on the b15 sentra. The only thing to limit your top speed is the rev limiter itself, but in the top gear that won't kick in to about 155.

A stock spec tops out around 135, if you've gone faster that simply shows the inaccuracy of the stock speedometer. Take a GPS into your car and try again and you'll see.

There's no way a Spec will do 145-150. 135 at the most, you have to realize that speedos can be off by ton at those speeds.

When I had my spec V the most I saw was 135 on my speedo.. but, speedo's are typically off by around 5 to 10 percent. So in reality probably around 125 or so.

Re: Spec V Top Speed?

Yea i think 130-135 sounds accurate.. i personally have done 122 in mine and it felt like it had more to go, but it was taking too long so i was like eh forget it.. i don't believe there is a governor either. i mean if you have the time and road i bet the car can get up to 140, but it takes such a long time..

im my '95 prelude Si my top speed was higher than an '02 Spec V that i raced. we were on I-95 and we both floored it and several times i would pull ahead of him. at that point i remember seeing about 125-127 on my speedo. my car was stock and im pretty sure his was too.. so i don't think the '02 Spec V's went any higher than 125-130 max.

Re: Spec V Top Speed?

lets put it this way.. my civic hatch is stock and only has 108 hp, and i've had that thing up to 120 before... I'd bet money that the spec v can max out at 140+...
