turndowns...
over the weekend i took off the tailpipes on my 87 GT because the speed bumps where i live are too tall and it scrapes the shit out of the mufflers, so i raised the mufflers enough to not scrape. i drove around with the mufflers ( 2 chamber flowmaster 40 series) to find out that its too loud without the tailpipes. i was just wondering if turndowns would quiet it a little? also where to find ones for a 2 1/2 id muffler and how long of one to get. will it give the exhaust a different sound, baffel, or pulse? i don't feel like getting any tickets so i got to get them soon. any help would be great. thanks

Turndowns would only make it worse cause it would echo off the ground even more direct. Are the mufflers hitting or the tail pipes?

WoW, you've got some big speed bumps by you. I dont really know what to tell you. Is it lowered?

Actually if you get down pipes it will quiet your car, yeah i have the same problem with my maro, who in the hell invented those big ass speed bumps i wish i could beat the crap out of them,

yeah the speed bumps are really tall. and no the cars not loward its at stock height. i'm not sure what to do.

what do u mean by down pipe it and the guy put them so tall because they have been having problems with speeding with kids.

would some sort of exhaust tip with a resonator work or would that make it sound funny or create more back pressure?
