99 upper ball joint

Iam eplacing ball joints on a 99 Blazer the problem is the sleve that holds the boot to the new ball joint. Does that bolt directly to the joint or does it bolt from under the control arm? Its been a while since Ive done them and there wasnt a diagram showing which way it goes. Being it is 2 pieces I wasnt sure.
