How much/When should i change my Tbelt and other things?
Ok my question is, When should i change my Tbelt? it was changed around 67k miles and now the car has 105k miles.. thats aprox 38k miles on the belt? By the way the original owner had it changed by a Honda/Acura professional mechanic. My second question is, What else should i replace in order to keep my car in tip top condition? People say when i change the belt i might as well change the water pump and spark plug. If i do change all of those can u guys estimate on how much i would have to pay? Im gonna have a dealership do all the work for me since i have school and this is my senoir year which i dont have time to waste so i will have to pay for labor too.. =\ I just wanna know since im gonna be saving up. Thanks. Oh yeah i dont need to change oil until like feb or somewhere after that cause i just got it changed when i bought it.

last time i change my timing belt and water pump it cost me 100 for the part 150 for the labor total is 250 ( my friend mechanic ), but if u bring to the dealer it will cost around 400-500. yea it good to change the belt and water pump at the same time , u never know if the owner before u change it or not , i usually change my oil every 3000 mile.

Re: How much/When should i change my Tbelt and other things?
You should do the timing belt every 60,000 miles (dealer recommendation). I also recommend replacing the balance shaft belt, tensioner and water pump at the same time. As killer said, oil change every 2500 - 3000 miles. I also have ALL of my fluids dropped every 15,000 miles and the fuel filter every 30,000 miles. Then all of the obvious, plugs, wires, air filter (If you don't have a washable). My thoughts are that more preventative maintence will cost much less than a major repair.

i would also recomend removing the b-shafts when you do the t-belt. it is a bit more work, but the t-belt is the start of that project. you will free up 10-12 HP and it is also goot preventative maintinence as well.

Re: How much/When should i change my Tbelt and other things?
none at all, if any. i kinda like the 'seat of my pants' rumble. the biggest difference was the cams and the idle. there is definitly a difference sitting at a stop rumbling. the solid inserts i think made a bit of a difference too.
bottom line is take them out. that extra HP is nice but most of all it is the free flow of the oil. we all know how important that is [no oil = CW] |

Re: How much/When should i change my Tbelt and other things?
ok thanks guys, i think im gonna get all that done by late jan or early feb. I dont wanna risk driving too much cause i know the last owner pushed the car alot so ima get everything changed or replaced early.
