Question 96 Aerostar

Have a 96 that has failed 3 mass emmission inspections. Have 340K miles and it runs fine. Had some engine codes that were fixed. The shop said no codes exist as of now however I went right to the station and they couldn't get the computers to talk so I failed again. I guess the engine lite bulb was burnt out and the #6 cylinder had a minor skip sometime before but it still gave a code. Any ideas how to get this thing to pass? I don't know if I can get a waiver. Thanks

I have had my 1991 3.0L to two shops. Neither shop could get the data stream to come up on their diagnostic machines. One shop could pull codes, the other couldn't. And AutoZone didn't even touch it.

One would wish they coiuld swap a carb onto this thing...

But I would suggest trying another shop, maybe an older shop that might have an older scanner or at least a Ford-specific one.
