Question Si vs. GTS???

I have a 99 Civic SiR (from Canada) and my friend in his 00 Celica GTS wants to run them sometime. I was wondering if you think I could beat him with my current mods:
AEM CAI, Greddy Evo, NX 35 shot?
I plan on getting a new clutch soon which will help out a lot, along with a flywheel. So let me know if you think I would win or close or what? Thanx

if ive been able to edge out a few of them, with just CAI, and shortshifter, you should be able to take him without too much problem. especially with the 35 shot

he has 35 shot nitrous that makes him most likely to win cuz the GTS has a six ahhh yea it has a six speed gear box but with 35 shot nitrous you're more likely to win

and why is it everyone just asks whether or not they'll beat them where are the actual stories this is getting random

Aren't the Canadian SiR's SOHC Vtec? If they are then he's gonna get his a$$ handed to him by the GT-S.

Your thinking of the Canadian Si's, they are equivilent to the US's EX. But the SiR in Canada is a B16A2, DOHC VTEC which is the same as the US Si.

Well dude, to put it simply you're going to lose, maybe not by a lot, but you ARE going to lose. The Celica GTS runs 0-60 in 6.8; compared to the Si's/SiR's 7.1 0-60, it might seem like a close race, but the GTS has a really fukked up torque curve, so it's 0-60 isn't that great, but once it gets into third gear lift, it tears up pretty much anything in its way. Your car runs 15.7 stock, the Celica GTS runs 14.8. I seriously doubt a 35 shot of nitrous oxide will pull you down a whole second. Oh and basic mods like intake, header and exhaust don't do squat unless you have a built head. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about because I raced my friend's Civic Si against a GTS, my friend's Civic Si has intake, header, exhaust, and a Crower cam kit with cams and Yamame cam gears, you're looking about 185-190 hp to the flywheel, the GTS rocked me by about 3 car lengths, and I AM a good driver before you talk trash. I jumped the GTS by about 2 car lengths off the line, I thought I would have him but he caught up rather quickly in third gear.

I've read the Sport Compact Car comparo they had that had the GT-S running a 14.9...but that's it. For perspective, in that same comparo, the TypeR, which runs between a 14.8 to a 15.2 in different publications, ran a 14.5 in this test.

The catch is in the gearing. The GT-S' gearing is not optimized to keep the engine in it's "sweet spot" like most Hondas are. Most street racers are not gonna totally flog their cars, which is why I kept up with my friend's '00 GT-S until third gear in my LX. To get the best acceleration out of the GT-S, you literally have to bounce off of the rev-limiter. If you ever meet a well-heeled idiot who cares more about winning than his engine, watch out.

Oh, Corolla guy...whatsup man? You don't have to lie to defend your chosen manufacturer...

I noticed a couple of things that need to be clarified:

Uhm...so all those magazines that compare these bolt-ons with dyno charts are lying? What about the Import Tuner power pages? We need to sue Greddy/DC Sports/Various others for false advertising man!

What year Si? If you are talking about the '92 to '95 Si hatchbacks, that MIGHT be believable. If you are talking about the '99 to '00 Si's, you slowed down and allowed your friend to do a ricer flyby...or you are not as good a driver as you think. Please don't go immature on your reply, and think I am insulting you...I just don't find your statements very believable...and I don't think anyone else does.
