97 Achieva gremlins

I have a 97 Achieva SC, 4 cyl, w/ 82,300 miles I bought used. It has a few nagging items I need to fix myself, if possible.
1. Can anyone tell me how to check out the delay wiper? Wiper works on lo and hi speeds, just no delay.
2. Can anyone tell me how to check the rear window defogger? The dash light comes on with the switch but the window stays fogged up.
3. There is a ringing / jingling sound from the passenger side front of the
engine compartment - A/C compressor, I'm pretty sure. Any how, when the A/C is turned on, the noise stops. Is the pulley clutch going or gone?

Any info appreciated.
