Re: vin # trick

I found some sites on decoding the Vin and stuff but its all relating to 83-85 and I can't find 82 but if you have the RPO's for the vehicle it would be much easier to tell. Did you ask this question in the Monte Carlo forum?

Your vin won't tell you if it was a true SS. Just like my vin won't tell me if it is a true GN. All it will tell you is what engine is in it.

Re: vin # trick

Its probably another value killing clone.I see this all the time in third gen firebirds.GTA clones are out of control.people think they can get a set of bumpers and spoilers and embelems on ebay and have the real thing.the real thing is hiding under the glass on the dashboard, and on your door.Same goes for GN clones.I was just kinda pickin on hypsi for this very subject.A lot of buick t-type owners got this great idea of cloning up to a GN.This cheapens GN's,because most of the t-types with turbos, cant get a descent 16 second 1/4 mile. Its not the same thing cause if i got up next to a true GN,the only thing that could save my hind quarters, would be a shot of nos.
I think most SS's say it clearly on the title *SS*,Grand Nationals should also have an obvious mark on the title too.

Re: vin # trick

aaah what would we do without ol hyspi to pick a fight with... well a guy called us up the other day
had ran his monte into a tree, found out just a few days ago bout the ss s not comming back or out till 83, any way it must have been a clone, we got a few interior parts, but a full engine tranny etc, it only damage as deep as the waterpump, tore the hood off and a few minutes later we fired it up, its a 350, so for $300 it was a good deal
