My accord is leaking coolant out of a small hole/drain at the bottom, backside of my engine right above my driverside cv axle. My radiator completely empties but it only drains when my car isn't running. Also, my radiator starts steaming only about 2 minutes after i start it. Does this have anything to do with my thermostat possibly being frozen. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks a lot.

Re: 95 accord cooling system problem
Backside of the engine....As part of the oil filter assembly there may be a hose that runs coolant through a heat exchanger and the hose may be bad, but it would leak anytime the radiator had pressure from being hot. If it is leaking from the drivers side under the timing belt cover, it is the water pump.

Well...i know that it isnt coming from my water pump and it isnt coming from any hose... i can actually see it coming out of what looks like a bleed or drain. Its wierd. Coolant comes out of this hole only when i shut off my car. I dont know what to do because my radiator keeps overheating even after i fill it with water and coolant but my temp gauge reads like everything is fine (little below mid-way). Its wierd. Im hoping it is something small like my thermostat. I dont really know the effects of a broken one though or why coolant would be dripping out of the place it is.

This so called LEAK appears to be coming out of the very bottom of my block. There looks like there should be a bolt where it is leeking but i cant tell if its threaded or not or if im supposed to cap it off

Re: 95 accord cooling system problem
if this hole is directly to the left of your engine oil filter...then yes...there is suppose to be a bolt there. it's to drain the coolant out of the engine. once you find the right size bolt....just apply some liquid gasket maker on the threads and you should be set. once you replace that...then you can diagnose the cooling system for anything else that may be an issue.
